Stereolithography (SLA) 3D Printing
What is Stereolithography (SLA) 3D Printing?
Stereolithography (SLA) is one of the original 3D printing process that exists today. It is a form of additive manufacturing which is most popular among the resin based 3d printing process. That’s why it is also known as Resin 3D printing. It is one of the three main vat polymerization process that uses light source for curing liquid polymer resin. Many companies prefer SLA over any other 3D printing service as it offers higher accuracy and smoother surface quality. Keeping the requirement in mind, Arissta 3D Proto delivers quality results from SLA 3D printing service for its clients.
Applications of Stereolithography
Among Industries, Jewellery industries have huge preference for SLA 3D printing service due to its better accuracy of 3d printing process. Jewellers require to create delicate geometric designs for jewellery with very accurate designs, where minute changes are outside tolerance range.
Stereolithography 3d printing is also popular in medical equipment industry. It is highly useful for creating anatomical models and microfluidics. It has usage in creating orthoses depending on need of patients.
How Does SLA 3D Printing Work?
The starting process of Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing requires submerging the build platform in a tank filled with liquid photo polymer resin. It should precisely position at layer height so that it touches the surface of resin. Since the process is a bottom to top process, firstly the bottom part is created followed by top part. As the bottom part is created, the UV light focuses on creating upper part of object.
The UV light focuses selective molecules of resin so that only those molecules undergoes curing. During the curing process or polymerization process, UV laser activates monomer carbon chains in liquid resin resulting in solid, crosslinked bonds. Each SLA 3D printer consists of multiple mirror systems known as Galvos. The purpose of Galvos in SLA 3D printer is to guide the UV laser to predefined path, enabling creation of total cross-section area of model.
Once the printing process is completed, the model generated is still in partial cured state. In this state, the model has not gained its strength and thermal properties. Therefore, additional UV light processing is required for the model to gain its thermal and mechanical properties. The resin used in SLA 3D printing is thermoset polymer resin and therefore any model created using SLA 3D printing is irreversible in nature.
Why SLA 3D Printing Service is the best 3D printing service for you?
No Support Needed
There is no requirement for additional support structure in SLA 3D printing as essential support structure are created using the same polymer resin which is used to create the 3D model. After the creation of the 3D model, support structures are removed from the model to achieve a flawless finish body.
Better Accuracy Output
SLA allows manufacturers to produce objects in one of the best accurate parameters. SLA 3D printing allows super fine resolutions such as 25 microns and thickness of 10 microns. An Industrial SLA has better accuracy than desktop model, where precision narrows down from (+/- 0.2%)
Speed Up Processes
SLA produces three-dimensional objects using a substitution material like resin. But the parts and prototypes printed using SLA 3D Printing technology have functional surface quality.
Ready-to-use Products
SLA helps 3D printing service providers to deliver objects or models in 48 hours. The printers can easily save time and resources by avoiding the need to create a mold before starting the 3D printing process.
